Kampala: Visiting Friends at Uganda Microfinance Limited (UML)

The first picture above shows the newly built branch in Kalinaabiri on the outer edge of Kampala. The second photo shows their original building, just next door. The new facility is a real accomplishment for the neighborhood and includes a training room on the second floor for local meetings and educational seminars on personal and small business finance.

The local market bustles with activity from fruit sellers and weavers to construction materials and auto part dealers. What unites them all is their humble beginnings with microloans from UML. With as little as $50 a new life can begin for someone on the fringe of existence.
